I first met Magnus Bocker at a Deutsche Bank investment banking financial technology conference in New York where I had been asked to moderate an exchange leader panel. Magnus was then president of Nasdaq OMX. Also on the panel was Larry Leibowitz representing NYSE Euronext. Magnus was always gracious with me. He was likable, always smiling, whip-smart and well-dressed. In fact one year at the…

The open role of president was filled by Bryan Durkin who previously served as the chief commercial officer. Sliding into the open CCO role was Julie Winkler, who had been a senior managing director in research, product development and index services. Julie Holzrichter’s title is still chief operating officer but…

As we end 2016 we should all stop in at Ceres in the Chicago Board of Trade Building for a stiff drink and to shake the hand of Billy Assimos. He was the focus of the most read story on www.johnlothiannews.com in 2016, according to Google Analytics. Sarah Rudolph penned the story, “Billy Assimos, the Face of Ceres” in June of this year. Assimos is the longtime manager of Ceres, a restaurant and bar in the CBOT Building, and a friend of many. I guess it pays to serve the stiffest drinks in Chicago. Coming in second place was Jim…
