Thank You from Pegasys Trading Standard

We here at Pegasys Trading wanted to thank all of the attendees at our launch party last week at the TT Tech Tap. If you haven’t been to the TT Tap yet I highly recommend it for your next event. We were fortunate to have over 100 potential customers for Pegasys turn out for the event and it was great to catch up with so many traders, exchanges, vendors and brokers from the Chicago community.  The food was provided by the delicious Skrine Pork Chop restaurant and we had great craft beers from the TT Tap to quench everyones thirst. It…

Foreign exchange trading; “Same as it ever was”. A market ripe for disruption Standard

Ray McKenzie

When I first began trading FX in the age when dinosaurs roamed the earth, spot was traded through brokers and once in a while on the Reuters dealing system or via Telex. And of course direct over the phone. It took much prodding, begging and pleading to convince the brokers and the banks to allow Morgan Stanley (where I traded) to be allowed to use the broker market. Our argument was that we really were a customer and not a competitor because we were hedging client flow that the banks wouldn’t see anyway. To some extent that was true, but…

Happy last days of summer! I hope you have all had a great one so far. I am reaching out to you again this year as we are approaching October and that means that the annual fundraiser for. Day 4 in Shanghai: Jack Ma and the Gamechangers Standard

I can’t believe this week is almost over. It is Friday morning in Shanghai. I don’t know the Mandarin for TGIF but actually my week has been so great I almost wish it wasn’t over.   It is too bad Shanghai isn’t as close to Chicago as say Kalamazoo. I’d drive there all the time.   We are making final presentations this morning to the lovely folks at the Shanghai Futures Exchange. Today’s topic is the impact of the internet on financial services and  some side topics on Dark Pools, MFID, Dodd-Frank etc. It is most enjoyable to talk with these extremely…

Shanghai day three: Alibaba and the Big D Standard

I just logged day three of my first trip to Shanghai and I am beginning day 4 as I write this. The three days of non stop rain has given way to a beautiful sunrise, albeit a bit hazy one with either pollution or fog browning the blue sky. But it is so much nicer than the grey and wet days we have had. My shoes are still drying out. My biggest regret so far on the trip to this city three times the size of Manhattan is that I don’t speak Mandarin. I am reminded of the movie Lucy with Scarlett Johansson (not so good) that…

Day Two in Shanghai, The Big Fish 大鱼 Standard

My second day here in Shanghai was even better than the first in many ways. Still Raining as the Jimi Hendrix song says and the people here are Still Dreaming of ways to make money. I continue to be blown away by the enormousness of this city and by the people themselves. Shanghai is full of extremely smart and hungry entrepreneurs. The people I met during meetings yesterday had a lot of the same questions we do in the states about the futures industry. When will all the new regulations stop coming and what will be the final impact?  How…
